I just split the ETHZ hints page (with instruction on how to use VPN on a Nokia E90 Communicator) in two:

As mentioned in a previous post Nokia is not releasing a VPN client for the E90 communicator.
With the help of several sources on the net I managed to install the client for the E80 and a signed policy to connect to my employer’s Cisco VPN. See my hints page for the details.

A just got a very sad reply from Nokia Business Support stating they have no clue on when a version of their mVPN client will be available for their E90 Communicator.
Wie in unserem Telefonat bereits erwähnt, ist uns leider nicht bekannt wann
ein VPN Client für das E 90 zur Verfügung steht.
See my hints page for details.

I just managed to configure the E90 to connect to WLANs using 802.1x for authentication.
See the hints to configure it on my homepage (they are specific to our network but can be easily adapted).

I just got a brand new Nokia E90 Communicator. Although I am pretty happy with it (I really like the big screen, the keyboard, the WiFI, …) I will post from time the problems and limitations that I discover to help eventual buyers.
Let’s begin with a minor issue: it has an FM radio but
- no RDS
- you have to actually listen to it to discover the station you are tuned on
- it does not automatically tune itself to alternate frequencies (which could be nice on a mobile phone)
- the automatic search is way too sensitive: I had to search for my favorite stations manually since the automatic search happily skips them
- the manual search interface is terrible: you have to type the frequency you want to listen (yes type)

Yesterday I ate a huge (300g) ostrich steak at Rolli’s in Oerlikon (Zurich, Switzerland). They present it raw cooked on a hot stone plate and you can decide how much it should stay there. The food is good and the price reasonable. They don’t have an homepage or email but you can book by phone: +41 44 311 28 80
